A Day Without Rain

This past Saturday we took the kids over to a nearby reservoir for a walk. The reservoir is one of many water supplies for New York City. You are allowed to fish in the water, and use a non-motorized boat, with permission. There is a great paved road to walk on, and since 9/11 cars are no longer able to drive on this road. Many walkers, joggers, roller bladers and bike riders had the same idea as us. It was a gorgeous day, and the view of the Catskill mountains was breath-taking. I never tire of the scenery where we live.

After our walk at the reservoir, we took the kids out for dinner and ice cream at a local place. It was a fun family night, and the kids were well worn out and ready for bed when we got home.

This week Dave is working hard on the final preparations for Vacation Bible Scool. VBS begins next Monday, and this year it's being held at our church, instead of in our yard (our church finally has a back yard, so we're able to have VBS there). This year's theme is "Operation Space," and when I walked up to the church today with the kids, it was very clear that our large outdoor tent is being transformed into a space shuttle.
