Visiting Family
Here are a few pictures from our Easter weekend trip to New York. We stayed with Dave's brother and his family, and attended Dave's brothers church Easter Sunday.

A Visit With Friends
Some people take their kids to museums, or amusement parks, or ice cream shops...NOT US! We take them to taxidermy shops. :) While visiting a good friend of ours, the kids got to tour his taxidermy shop, and they were so enthused. Julie insisted on having her picture taken with everything she saw. :)

Julie Turns 7!

What Happened to March???
It occured to me today that I have not blogged in over a month - so I figured this was a good time for an update....without pictures (sorry, we're still on dial-up). I keep telling myself I need to get over to Doug & Andrea's so I can post some pictures, but that just hasn't happened yet. Soon....I promise....maybe....well, don't hold me to it...I'll do my best.
We had a really nice Easter visiting Dave's family in NY. We stayed with Dave's brother, Nathan and his family. We spent time visiting friends, and family, and we couldn't have asked for better weather that weekend. The kids travelled the 8+ hour drive well.
I have not blogged about this yet because I did not want to speak prematurely, however I feel free to share with you that we will be buying a house within the next two months. Yippee...Hooray! The house my dad is currently "flipping" will be ours by the end of June. Our financing has been approved, and we are moving forward with the purchase. We are so excited, and it has been so much fun to be involved in the process while Dad, Doug & Dave work to re-model this home. Dad has included me in many of the decisions...especially the ones that are of the biggest concern for me, ie., the kitchen floor-plan, wall colors, siding and shudder choices, flooring, etc. Tonight Dave and I are shopping for light fixtures, fun, fun! This week the guys completed the siding, and WOW what a transformation. I can't wait to share pictures with you...as soon as I can. :)
The home is within a few blocks of Doug & Andrea's - less than a 5 minute walk. It is less than a 5 minute drive from our church (dave's work, Julie's school, and the daycare where I work). Doug has made comments that he will be increasing his fire insurance if Joel is moving nearby...Joel has a reputation for being a trouble-maker, and he's not even two. He's made quite a name for himself in less than two years. (His most recent "accomplishment" was escaping outside with one of Julie's dress shoes on, and one tucked under his arm...when I caught him heading for the playhouse he had one very wet sock and a fighting look on his face b/c he did not want to come back inside with me).
Julie turned 7 on March 25. We had a family b'day party here at dad's, and another celebration with family in New York. I can't believe she's 7 already. She has such a sweet disposition and concern for others. Her stubborness still shows through, but many of the challenges we faced in her early years have ceased, and a little girl who's maturing and growing up too quickly is in it's place.
Alayna continues to keep us all laughing - her goal in life is to get us to laugh. Sunday after church she was headed upstairs in her dress when she stopped and turned around to my dad and asked, "Papa, aren't I just the cutest thing you've ever seen?" (note to self: work on Alayna's humility) Now that's a comment that reminded me of my mom. :)
